2017 Youth of the Year: Ms. Jamaria Jones

  • The Southside Boys & Girls Clubs is happy to announce that Miss Jamaria Jones is the 2017 Southside Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year. Jamaria is a Sophomore at Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia and currently holds a 3.9 grade point average. Jamaria is also part of the ROTC and a Varsity Cheerleader. She hopes to one day attend either North Carolina State, University of California or LSU and major in Veterinarian Sciences. Jamaria worked extremely hard this past year in school and at the Club where she is the President of the Keystone Club and was elected that position even though she is the youngest member of the group. Currently she is on target the lead her group to their second consecutive National Keystone Youth conference in Chicago March 2nd - 5th, 2017. Let's all wish Jamaria well in her future endeavors as we once again can say GREAT FUTURES START HERE!

“THE CLUB” @ Diggs Town

Hours of operation are MONDAY-WEDNESDAY 2:30PM- 8PM and THURSDAY & FRIDAY 5:30PM -8PM
Our Teens have been charged to connect the City of Norfolk. They have a series of community service projects and special event to provide a safe and positive environment for teens to express themselves, have their own space and help to stop the violence. Our Teen Council will be in charge of helping with leading the charge of change.

Work Place Development: If you are 18-24 and do not have a GED or have a felony and looking for work, please contact Mr. Shivers at 757-545-3289.

Keystone on the Move

Our Keystone Club is the Boys & Girls Club Movement's ultimate teen program. This unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. Youth participate, both in and out of the Club, in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service.

For their outstanding volunteer contributions and academic success in the classroom for 2016, they are headed to Chicago for the 2017 National Keystone Conference, which will be held at the Hilton Chicago on March 2, 2017-March 4, 2017.
